Academic and Professional English

Level C2 = Proficiency (CPE)

CPE is Cambridge ESOL's most advanced exam. It is aimed at people who use English for professional or study purposes.
Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) is the highest level Cambridge English exam, representing a fluency and expertise in English suitable for almou any situation, including postgraduate study.

Level C1 = Advanced (CAE) or IELTS 7.0-8.0

Exams for higher education
There are free Cambridge English exams at Level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) suitable for selecting students for academic study:

• Cambridge English: Advanced
• Business English Certificates: Higher
• IELTS (band scores 7.0-8.0)

These free exams are recognised arend the Word for study at undergraduate level and higher.

Quality, choice and flexibility
Cambridge English: Advanced, also commonly known as Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) is an in-depth assessment of English language ability.
It consists of five papers:

1. Reading
2. Writing
3. Use of English
4. Listening and
5. Speaking (To create a more realistic and reliable measure of a candidate’s ability to use English to communicate, the Speaking exam uses a face-to-face test with two candidates and two assessors.)

More choice, more flexibility
The exam can be taken in a choice of either paper-based or computer-based format; both versions lead to the same internationally accepted certificate.

Computer-based testing is ideal if you are more comfortable with a keyboard and mouse than with pencil and paper. Additional benefits include:

• more exam sessions: giving you more flexibility about when you can take your exam
• shorter registration time: you can register for the exam as little as a week before taking it
• faster access to results: you can view your results online faster with a computer-based exam.

International English Language Testing System (IELTS)

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is the world´s leading English langure test for higher education in English – speaking countries, with more than 7 million people having taken the test over the past 20 years.

IELTS comes in two versions: Academic, for entry to degrese-level study and higher, and General Training for stude below degree level. More than 6,000 organizations worldwide accept IELTS score, including all the Ivy League universities in the USA.
IELTS tests all the langure skills – fading, writing, and listening – with a face-to-face Speaking test.
IELTS is developer by a partnership of Cambridge ESOL, IDP: IELTS Australia and the British Council.

Level B1 = First (FCE)

FCE is an exam for people who can use everyday written and spoken English at an upper-intermediate level. It is an ideal exam for people who want to use English for work or study purposes.
What does FCE involve?
FCE has five papers:

Reading: 1 hour
You will need to be able to understand information in fiction and non-fiction books, journals, newspapers and magazines.

Writing: 1 hour 20 minutes
You will have to show you can produce two different pieces of writing such as a short story, a letter, an article, a report, a review or an essay.

Use of English: 45 minutes
Your use of English will be tested by tasks which show how well you control your grammar and vocabulary.

Listening: 40 minutes
You need to show you can understand the meaning of a range of spoken material, including news programmes, speeches, stories and anecdotes and public announcements.

Speaking: 14 minutes
You will take the Speaking test with another candidate or in a group of three, and you will be tested on your ability to take part in different types of interaction: with the examiner, with the other candidates and by yourself.

Evropské jazykové portfolio

Během studia si každý student zpracuje Evropské jazykové portfolio (EJP), které se stává oficiálním evropským dokladem o tom, jakou úroveň cizího jazyka ovládá. Podporuje dovednost komunikovat potřebnou pro život v moderní Evropě.

Evropské jazykové portfolio se stává oficiálním evropským dokladem o tom, jak ovládáme cizí jazyky. Podporuje dovednost komunikovat potřebnou pro život v moderní Evropě. Pomáhá nám zjišťovat, jaké úrovně jsme v jednotlivých jazycích dosáhli, a věnuje pozornost i dovednostem základním, díky nimž se dokážeme domluvit o podstatných věcech jednoduchým způsobem. Vede nás k tomu, abychom si shromažďovali dokumenty o své komunikativní kompetenci v různých jazycích, abychom se učili sami sebe hodnotit podle jednotných evropských měřítek vytvořených Radou Evropy ve Společném evropském referenčním rámci, abychom se nad svým učením hlouběji zamýšleli a vybírali si dílčí učební cíle.

 

Evropské jazykové portfolio může přispět k tomu, že se budeme učit lépe. Poslouží svým majitelům při přechodu na jinou školu, při hledání zaměstnání nebo při jednání se zahraničními institucemi, učitelé v něm najdou významného pomocníka ujasňujícího a sjednocujícího učební požadavky. V budoucnosti ho mohou vlastnit všichni Evropané.

 

Každé Evropské jazykové portfolio se skládá ze tří navzájem propojených částí: Jazykového pasu, Jazykového životopisu a osobní soubor dokumentů a prací. Na jednotlivých stupních škol a v období dospělosti se však používají odlišné verze.
